Program Organization
The basic program is comprised of eighteen 30-hour full-length courses, scheduled for 20 one-and-a-half-hour class meetings, and five 15-hour short courses, scheduled for 10 one-and-a-half-hour class meetings. The standard program organization consists of one short and four full-length sessions per year when classes meet two days per week. The number of courses offered during each session and the number of sessions per year can vary to meet your organizational needs. Other program designs are also available to accommodate your logistic and scheduling constraints.
Needs Assessment
Before participating in the English Language Skills Program, the language skills of each student are assessed through standardized and course-specific tests that reveal each individuals' strengths and weaknesses. These test results are discussed with the individuals in terms of the benefits each course offers them.
Teaching Methodology
The Personalized Guided Interactive Practice™ method is the basic teaching methodology at English Development Services and is perfectly suited for classes of up to 10 students and private tutorials. It is a practice-based method using the basic textbook materials and relating them to each student's personal, real-life experiences. American pronunciation and accent reduction are basic to the methodology, and each student's speech is monitored by the instructor and correct pronunciation patterns are practiced in all classes.
Students' progress is monitored in each course through regular homework exercises and short, content-based quizzes. Individual course progress reports are provided to each student and session reports are provided to management after the conclusion of each session.
Course and Program Feedback
In order to continually help us meet the needs of your organization and the program participants, feedback from the students is an essential part of the English Language Skills Program. That feedback is obtained through student course evaluations conducted for each course at the end of each session.
